The Government of Gujarat has taken steps to implement comprehensive emergency medical services in the state through the introduction of a fleet of ambulances. The aim is to provide free emergency ambulance services to the residents of Gujarat, facilitating integrated emergency health care management. This initiative also involves adopting comprehensive emergency management protocols that ensure timely provision of pre-hospital care in the ambulances and prompt admission of patients to the nearest government facility, with a focus on the critical timeframes known as 'The Golden Hour' and the 'Platinum Ten Minutes'.

Emergency Medical Services were first launched in Gujarat with 14 ambulances on August 29, 2007, and this initiative has since expanded to a fleet of 585 ambulances by the end of 2016, equating to one ambulance per approximately one lakh population.

Recognizing the increasing demand and success of the 108 Emergency Services, the Government of Gujarat has introduced a Mobile Application for accessing the 108 Emergency Service. This service operates 24x7 and is offered free of charge.

Instructions for use:

1. Install the 108 Gujarat Application.
2. Ensure that your device has GPS & GPRS enabled before calling the 108 Gujarat helpline.
3. Follow the registration process provided.
4. Users can then contact the 108 helpline by selecting the designated button in the application.
5. Upon placing a call, the user's current location and registration details will be sent to the 108 Emergency Response Centre, allowing associates to view the user's position on Google maps and dispatch the nearest ambulance as needed.
6. Upon ambulance assignment, users will receive confirmation along with a unique Case ID.
7. Users are able to track their assigned ambulance, view its distance from their location, and estimate its arrival time by selecting the 'Track Ambulance' feature.
